Tahlia in July

I have a few super cute pictures of Tahlia to share with you- as if it is hard for her to take cute pictures lol!
This picture was taken July 9th. She has this new thing where she likes to wear daddy's shoes and walk (or stumble) around :)

This picture was also taken July 9th later in the morning. The flower that is in her hair, she picked out of grandma Cerkoney's flower pot. It was so pretty, I had to put it in her hair :) If our little honey is outside, she is usually with the flowers. She would live outside if she had the chance!

There she is, turning on her bubble machine! Fun fact,  Its hard to tell when she says "bubbles" or "poopoos" because she says "bubbles" with a "p" instead of a "b".

July 17th. I missed the photo opportunity of Tahlia in her bed with the football. At the end of the night I told Tahlia that it is time for nite nite. She then struggled to carry all 3 of her blankies AND the football to her bed so proudly. Im so sad I missed it but took this picture as she was looking for a book for us to read.

Laundry day, Wednesday! July 20th. Tahlia LOVES playing in the heaping pile of unfolded clothes. This time, she found her hat and put it on so proudly! Little did she know, it was inside out and backwards! Its the cutest when she is so serious about something that looks so silly :)

July 24th. While I was shooting the video of her walking in her daddy's combat boots, I snapped a couple of pictures. Priceless.

Here are the videos of her first official combat boot experience. Enjoy!

Our Summerfest Rockstar moment

This is a case of "what happens at Summerfest, stays at Summerfest". After the Baptism of little Leah, we decided it would be a great idea to catch an evening at Summerfest.

It turned out, the friends we planned on going out with (Marshall and Katrice), brought her friend (Marjanae)  who brought her friends (Michaela and Emily)... got it? lol. Shortly after arriving, we were told that Mickey and Emily were able to get backstage to Fuel (an alternative rock band). Soon, we all got backstage passes! I didnt know it then, but Dan told me the next day after, that this was his very first concert experience... let alone backstage concert experience... pretty sweet. I am not a huge Fuel fan but the whole experience of being back stage and getting to listen to good music was great and definitely worth the $15 each to get in.

I cannot believe I held onto the night like I did (being in the first trimester). But Dan was able to get off of work and it was all worth it! This was an adventure we will never forget <3

More Baby News!

What a difference a week makes! I am not sure exactly how much bigger our little one is compared to the previous ultrasound but it looks as though s/he quadrupled in size!!! Well, the baby has been growing at such a healthy rate that s/he brought the due date up 2 days based on measurements! So I am now 8 weeks 2 days along.

If you look closely, I hope you can see the little arms and little leg. It also looks like there is a pony-tail on the top of its head! Because of the silly angles of the "lighting" that "pony-tail" is actually the baby's yolk sac (what nourishes our little one until there is a placenta.

I guess it is a long shot to believe I was pregnant with twins. If you saw the first ultrasound picture 2 blogs ago, you might know what I am referring to. The darn ultrasounds have a way in fooling us. The circle of "nothing" under the baby's "circle" is actually filled with blood. And it is not under the baby's "circle" as the ultrasound looks... in fact its surrounding the baby's gestational sac ("circle") causing a good amount of concern because of its size. This is the reason I am to have an ultrasound once a week until it goes away and my doctor is happy.

This ultrasound showed the blood surrounding the gestational sac had decreased in length and width... however there is much more depth to it then before. My doctor is still concerned so I will have another ultrasound next week. I am okay with this... its great to see my baby once a week!!- and I am sure you all can agree with that too! :)

PS:
Our ultrasound tech told us she just found out she is pregnant (I am pretty sure we were the first people besides her husband that she told). Her and her husband have been trying and she seems so hopeful. She (as many of us women with that kind of job would do) took a peak and feels as though the baby doesnt look like its developing like it should be and she is worried about a miscarriage. Please pray for her and her husband and the little one inside of her. Thank you!

Tahlia's Ears

Ever since January, Tahlia has had one double ear infection after another. We tried every anti-biotic you can think of and it turns out the stronger medicines work. The first time Tahlia was on Augmentin, it worked very well, almost instantly. Her stool didnt seem too impacted by it as well (because we were giving her much more yogurt and cheese as instructed). But the last 2 times on Augmentin seemed to upset her stool and her tummy. She has high pain tolerance so its hard to say exactly what it was doing to her but as her mom and dad, we could tell something was not quite right. After the 2 week regimen, I made an appointment with her pediatrician for the usual followup. A couple of days later, it turns out the antibiotics didnt even touch her ear infection! All of the diarrhea and worry about her health while on the antibiotics... for nothing!

The last 3-4 visits with her pediatrician, she mentioned making an appointment with an ENT. She strongly urged that we see the ENT later on, so we can get tubes in her ears. I expressed to her my concerns... basically, I cannot imagine putting my daughter to sleep for a surgery- esp. since I believe her ear infections are brought on by her teething. And there is just a bad feeling in my gut about the whole thing.

I understand the dangers of having recurring ear infections. I understand all of the developmental concerns that go along with it as well.... not to mention the pain my little girl must be in! But I wanted to know if there was another way to fix her without putting her under a knife.

After getting yet another prescription for another 2 week course of antibiotics, I went straight to the computer to do my research on what other parents did to cure their little ones of recurring ear infections. I was shocked to find out there are many different reasons ear infections might occur. The one thing I saw a lot was allergies. Many people took their child to an allergen and found they were sensitive to milk and dairy. Many people suggested cutting out sugars. There are also many techniques to use to cure ear infections. The two I saw the most were Tubes and Chiropractor. Both methods seemed to have the same amount of good reviews as "bad".

My husband mentioned the chiropractor idea to me because his aunt and uncle brought their sons to the chiro. to cure their ear infections. And it worked! I immediately said "absolutely not!" I have always had a strong bias against chiropractors basically because it seemed too close to a cult for me with their high-priced techniques and "we cure all ideas".

After my research seeing youtube videos and weighing out the pros and cons of tubes vs chiropractor, I concluded that giving the chiropractor a chance would be in our best interest.

2 weeks later, I am happy to say that not only is Tahlia's double ear infection gone but so is all the fluid that never seemed to go away!! We have one more appointment next week to see how everything looks but after that, we are done and she will be fine! I pray that Tahlia will continue to have healthy ears and she doesnt have to go through that pain again!

Love,
Jessa
