My Husband turns 30!

Even if you do not like country music, this is a good song, I think most of us can relate to. This song is "My next 30 years" by the legend, Tim McGraw. Today, November 8, 2011 is my husband's 30th birthday! In 4 more years, I will be celebrating this milestone but I cant help but think about it now, as if it was me who was turning 30 today.

Along with the card I gave my husband, I included a letter. One of the things I said in that letter became something I thought a lot about today... I said, "I am happy to be a part of your next 30 years (and beyond)!" The fact that we just celebrated our 1st anniversary, kind of brings an interesting perspective on the "next 30 years" of our lives as a married couple.

I am fascinated by how much time changes so many things. In September, I touched on this with the 10th anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11/01. So much can change in a matter of one year, let alone, 10 years... or 30! I guess some people would be scared to think about their lives so far into the future... but I am rather excited! Within the next 30 years, we will be done having kids and quite possibly be grandparents! It is exciting to think of our lives settling down, while being able to see our childrens' lives just beginning and developing families or lives of their own.

Dont worry, I am not completely oblivious...  I know there will be tragic and rough times along the way. But thus is life and we cannot worry ourselves with the inevitable. We must LIVE the years that we have here. I guess the reason I love to think about the future so far in advance is because, the worries and struggles in life that we are dealing with right now, will be so distant or even forgotten in 5, 10, 30... years. It helps me to put things in perspective and live more positively.

I look forward to celebrating my husband's 30th with some family and friends this weekend in the Wisconsin Dells. It will be nice to celebrate what the past molded him to be, who he is now and who he will become in the future.

"Cheers to another 30 years!"
